Founder and Designated Managing Broker
Joey Carr is the President and Designated Managing Broker of Carr Realty Advisors (CRA), a Chicago-based real estate advisory firm. Since its founding in 2011, CRA has been dedicated to providing brokerage services, project management, asset management, and property management to tenants, landlords, and developers in the commercial real estate sector.
CRA's notable clients include Acadia Realty Trust, Ace Hardware, Avenir Creative, Cinemark Theatres, Goldfish Swim School, Jimmy John’s, Leaders 1354, MD Management, Robert’s Pizza & Dough Company, Spirit Management Services, Tricap Residential, and Vosges Haut-Chocolat. Joey has been instrumental in creating value for retail, office, warehouse, and multifamily properties across the United States, managing over 19 million square feet and $3 billion in assets through out his career.
Before establishing CRA, Joey gained invaluable experience at AEW Capital Management in Boston, where he managed a national portfolio of super-regional malls totaling over 13 million square feet and generating $170 million in Net Operating Income. At AEW, Joey focused on aggressive asset management, financial analysis, leasing, and property management, collaborating with top-tier developers and managers such as The Taubman Company, Macerich, Jones Lang LaSalle, and Urban Retail Properties.
Returning to his Midwestern roots, Joey joined Joseph Freed and Associates (JFA) in Chicago as Development Director. There, he contributed to several large mixed-use residential and retail developments, ranging from mid-rise condominiums to indoor vertical malls, overseeing over $400 million in real estate projects.
Joey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Emory University and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Thresholds Real Estate Committee. Previously, he chaired the Associate Board of City Year Chicago. Joey is also a licensed Real Estate Managing Broker in Illinois.
